The innovative VocWorks’ Modified Duty Off-Site (MDOS) program helps reduce workers’ compensation and disability costs. Over the past 11 years, MDOS has proven to be a very valuable cost containment service among employers of all sizes across the country. Through MDOS, employees who have restrictions that cannot be accommodated on-site can be placed at non-profit organizations “temporarily” for 30-60-90 days. Our overall placement success rate in the MDOS program is 98.7%. In addition, 82.1% of MDOS referrals has successful outcomes -MMI, laid off, return to work, retired, job search, refused MDOS, quit MDOS (for MDOS monitored from time of referral to closure). RTW studies have shown the likelihood of an injured worker returning to work after 6 months is 50%. The figure drops to 25% after one year and almost zero after two years off the job. If an employer is unable to temporarily return an employee to their location secondary to restrictions, MDOS is the solution.
